Henrik Stenson will take a one shot lead into the final round of The Open. The Swede is looking to win his first major at Royal Troon tomorrow after a 68 today.
No Swedish player has ever won a major championship. Stenson has achieved number one status on both European Tour and PGA Tour in the past and has established himself as one of the best players not to have won a major.
Stenson leads Phil Mickelson, the man he finished second to at Muirfield in 2013, by one stroke. Both Stenson and Mickelson appear to be playing their own tournament with a 5 and 6 shot cushion over the rest respectively.
It appears to be a two horse race for the Claret Jug. But who will win it?
I can’t see anyone going low enough to catch them. Neither do I see them both capitulating. The weather will have its say but both Stenson and Mickelson are in control of their game. It’s a case of who can remain consistent and finish off the job down the notoriously difficult back 9.
